It is seen that in this material world or in spiritual world sound vibration is the most important factor to be taken into consideration to understand the magic spell of sound. All problems are derived from the misuse of sound. Sound is the subtlest among these five qualities (earth, fire, water, air, ether), and nobody can avoid the influence of sound anyway. Sound has its free access all over the Universe. Sound can never be stopped or destroyed. The only difference between material sound and transcendental sound is that—material sounds are originated from this material world but the source of transcendental word is Vaikuntha Jagat. Material people are always busy with material sound birth after birth—for an infinite period, usually they are not getting the privilege to hear transcendental sound, which is called Shabda Brahma. Actually Shabda Brahma can appear within certain conditions. Pure Guru-Vaishnava they are the embodiment of Vaikuntha Vani Vaibhava, so we can get the chance to hear Vaikuntha Vani from them, Vaikuntha Vani automatically flowing through their mouth continuously, nonstop way.
In all transactions or in daily life affairs, or in school and colleges, courts and offices everywhere, we can find the extensive use of material sound. Where not? However even one single misuse of word (sound) can set the whole world on fire. We in schools and colleges learning by the help of material sound, doctors and patients both they are using material sound to find solutions of health, also in political fields or courts and offices there also we can find the extensive use of material sound. This material sound has some limitation within this material level, but the transcendental sound has its unlimited influence all over this infinity worlds, because we can get any spiritual treasure by the help of this Shabda Brahma, what to speak more the perfect practice of Shabda Brahma can take us there into the transcendental world, even we can meet with the Supreme Lord to get eternal service there.
Actually common people are in confusion about how to detect transcendental sound because all along they are habituated to use material sound. That is why Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakur Prabhupada very often used to give advice to his followers that– “You must hear from a right source, don’t go everywhere.” Actually Srila Prabhupada wanted to give us indication about the right source Shabda Brahma (pure Guru-Vaishnava), otherwise any material sound source (non devotee or so called devotee– those who are having dirty kama inside their heart) can put us in trouble forever.
We can give one example which is more than sufficient to clarify this point. Sri Ishwara Chandra Vidya Sagar Mahashay was a great learned Personality, just can be compared with a material ocean, but he was surely not the ocean of transcendental learning, so we cannot expect from him any divine support, which can help us to reach that eternal world.
śrī-āvirhotra uvāca
karmākarma vikarmeti
veda-vādo na laukikaḥ
vedasya ceśvarātmatvāt
tatra muhyanti sūrayaḥ
Translation:
Śrī Āvirhotra replied: Prescribed duties, non performance of such duties, and forbidden activities are topics one can properly understand through authorized study of the Vedic literature. This difficult subject matter can never be understood by mundane speculation. The authorized Vedic literature is the sound incarnation of the Personality of Godhead Himself, and thus Vedic knowledge is perfect. Even the greatest learned scholars are bewildered in their attempts to understand the science of action if they neglect the authority of Vedic knowledge.
