Once my Gurupadapadma was asked by some disciples–“You are writing so much, who going to read all these writtings?“ Maharaj started replaying in a very smiling mood, I am not writing to get labha , puja , prathista , only I like to carry out the order of Srila Prabhupada given to me long ago with a gift of pen, so from then onward all along I am bussy with Sri Chaitanya seva. I know that thousands of people surely not going to read my writings, because they are busy with Maya´s seva. Like In a jewelry shop, whole day one or two can come to buy some very precious Jewell, but in a grocery shop, all the time there we can find rush, so there is nothing to be astonished about.
In Svananda Sukadha kunja Godrum when Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur used to speak Hariaktha then only one or two devotees used to come and attain that Aprakrita Harikatha. Sometimes Srila Krsna das Babaji Maharaj the sevak of Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur alone or sometimes Srila Gaura Kishor das Babaji Maharaj used to come to attain the Harikatha. How much popularity the Harikatha going to enjoy this is not the yardstick of Aprakrita Harikatha, but common people they are so foolish that they can not understand this point so they are going to die in the way of Aprakrita Bhajan field. Before attending any function or utshava we should calculate how much spiritual benefit we can get out of that, otherwise only to lose consciousness if we are going to attain that kind of function then it is really very dangerous. Actual Harikatha from the Lotus mouth of a powerful Sadhu Vaishnava is actual prasadam, also if at all there is proper arrangement of prasadam ( all purity about the source of money, about the purity of the cookman, about the purity of the pujari who is going to offer in front of Guru-Gauranga—those are the most vital points to be taken into consideration before participating in that function or uthsava, otherwise all impurity and contamination can put us down and down into hell) then we can accept with full honer, otherwise not.
If we go through the pastimes of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu than there we can find that Devananda Pandit was the topmost speaker on Srimad Bhagavatam at that time, he had numerous of followers, and all they always used to appreciate him for his Bhagavat Katha. Then time there in the society he was the topmost scholar of Srimad Bhagavatam, it was approved by the whole society, but Sriman Mahaprabhu was very very angry with him, not only that but also one day Sriman Mahaprabhu himself was about to snatch away Srimad Bhagavatam Grantha from his hand in front of thousands of listeners with a shouting voice to prove that he knows nothing of Srimad Bhagavatam the unique and the topmost purana of all puranas, which is just non-different from Krsna. Due to his dry darshan vicar Devananada Pandit was totally rejected by Sriman Mahaprabhu, because Srimad Bhagavatam is the infinity Ocean of Bhakti-Rasa tattva, whereas he was just like Mayavadi—having no faith in the eternity of Guru-Vaishnava- Bhagavan or Srimad Bhagavatam, not only that but also he was a great Vaishnava offender. One day Srivas Pandit the great eternal Parshad Bhakta of Sriman Mahaprabhu was hearing Bhagavat Katha from him. In the middle of that Bhagavat katha some very sensitive issue of prema bhakti came to invoke prema vikara inside the heart of Srila Srivas Pandit, so naturally, he was bound to lose his patience and bursted into tears. But that was unbearable for Devananda Pandit the heartless reciter of Srimad Bhagavatam, so he was bound to commit great offense unto the Lotus feet of Srivas Pandit to through him outside the venue of the Harikatha spot.
