Marriage means nothing but one kind of mirage (or illusion). At present marriage is one kind of game, even for those in India, what to speak outside. One Philosopher says that “Marriage is nothing but friendship between two human souls having two different material bodies.”
At the time of marriage some mantras are there in Ṛg Veda, one is supposed to utter them, “Your heart and my heart are submerged,” No more reservation of any personal desire, that is called “Pati-vrata dharma”—A chaste lady always wants to prove her chastity by this pati-vrata dharma, just like Gāndhārī, Kuntī, Sītā, Draupadī etc., even in dream they never think about other man. In Caitanya-caritāmṛta we can find the story of the wife and the brāhmaṇa having leprosy disease.
kuṣṭhī-viprera ramaṇī, pativratā-śiromaṇi,
pati lāgi’ kailā veśyāra sevā
stambhila sūryera gati, jīyāila mṛta pati,
tuṣṭa kaila mukhya tina-devā (C.C Antya-līlā 20.56)
“The wife of a brāhmaṇa who was suffering from leprosy manifested herself as the topmost of all chaste women by serving a prostitute to satisfy her husband to fulfil the desire of her husband to get the association of a very beautiful pros. Thus she was able to stop seven the movement of the sun god, and was successful to bring her dead husband back to life and satisfied the three principal demigods [Brahmā, Viṣṇu and Maheśvara].
