—Śrī Śrīla Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Ṭhākura Prabhupāda
The Overview of the article: From Śrīmad Bhāgavat Jī Mahā-Purāṇa, we can see that Paramahaṃsa Ācārya Śrī Śrīla Śukadeva Gosvāmīpada started highly appreciating his disciple Śrīla Parīkṣit Mahārāja in the following way—
śrī-śuka uvāca
varīyān eṣa te praśnaḥ
kṛto loka-hitaṁ nṛpa
ātmavit-sammataḥ puṁsāṁ
śrotavyādiṣu yaḥ paraḥ
Translation—In the previous chapter, King Parīkṣit asked Śrī Śukadeva: “What is the duty of a dying person to attain svarūpa-siddhi? What is the subject which can be the object of bhajana—that should be heard, chanted, remembered, and worshipped, and what actions should not be performed?” In reply, Śrī Śukadeva said—“O King! The noble question you have asked is beneficial for all people and free from material defects, because this question is approved even by those ātmavit-muktakula [assembly of those who are established in ātma-tattva & are absolutely liberated] present in your court.”
When Śrī Sat-Guru becomes completely satisfied with Sat-Śiṣya, then pari-pūrṇa Bhagavata kṛpā can be attained by the disciple concerned. Paramahaṃsa Sat-Guru never can think himself as guru, rather, as per his divine darśana, śiṣya can be treated by him as Guru. So, THE PRABHUPĀDA started glorifying Śrīman Atula Candra Vandyopādhyāya Bhakti Sāraṅga [ who is known to us by the name — Śrī Śrīla Bhakti Sāraṅga Gosvāmī Mahārāja]—one of his loyal sincere Guru-devatātmā disciple—as a genuine Gosvāmī for the following absolute reason as given below, to show us his divine qualities as a matter of our lesson.
A wonderful aprākṛta pleasure can appear when Śrī Sat-Guru and Sat-Śiṣya can grow oneness with each other.
This article was first published in the ‘Daily Nadiyā Prakāśa’—3rd Year, 283rd Issue from Śrī Caitanya Maṭha on 25th Māgha 1335 Bengali Era, 7th February 1929, Thursday—under the Editorship of Pratna-vidyā-alaṅkāra Śrī Śrī Pramoda Bhuśaṇa Cakravarttī (or Śrīpāda Prāṇavānanda Brahmacārī or Śrī Śrīla Bhakti Pramoda Puri Gosvāmī Mahārāja).
In the great land of Bhārata-varṣa, from the distant Kāśmīra region near the high peaks of the Himālayas extended up to the banks of the Indian Ocean, who does not know Bhakti Sāraṅga Prabhu? Although he is the head of the editorial group of the ‘Gauḍīya’ periodical magazine, still he is not an ordinary paid servant. He is the topmost magnanimous personality and the topmost Brāhmaṇa in the hereditary flow of Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu—who never depended upon any bhikṣā from any śūdra. Just like at present, there is a kind of contamination found to be involved in those different branches of Śrī Nityānanda with those śūdras in the way of social behavioural aspect; but in the hereditary flow of Śrī Bhakti Sāraṅga Prabhu—there cannot be found any degraded status, nor were they ever found to be touched by any unusual thing which could go against their divine aristocracy till date. But still, he never wanted to establish his own supremacy as the superior-most personality in the smārta society, which is against śuddha Bhakti. His divine aristocracy and the superiority of his family lineage could not displace him from the path of Bhakti to make him a follower of the path of sense gratification (eating & sleeping). In the assembly of those so-called brāhmaṇas of Kāśī, he didn’t think it necessary to participate in that assembly to blaspheme those Vaiṣṇavas together with them in the same tune, knowing that it would be nothing but only an anti-paramārtha activity. The causeless effort of Śrī Bhakti Sāraṅga Prabhu is not at all unknown to those readers of ‘Gauḍīya’ periodical—his effort to clean the heart of some paṇḍita of Bhaṭṭa-pallī who had developed a wrong conception about Śrī Kṛṣṇa-Caitanya Deva out of unnecessary envy & blasphemy towards Śrī Gaurasundara, Who is the worshipable object of Śrī Bhakti Sāraṅga Prabhu and more beloved to him than his own heart. Śrī Bhakti Sāraṅga Prabhu is the brightest jewel in the lineage of Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu. His vairāgya is the absolute manifestation of the path preached by Śrī Nityānanda Prabhu. Although he is established in the gṛhastha dharma as is prescribed in those śāstras, still, he is an aprākṛta (genuine) Gosvāmī and naturally detached from anything which is having [or which has] no connection with Kṛṣṇa. All those sevakas of Śrī Caitanya Maṭha and its twenty-eight branches headed by Śrī Gauḍīya Maṭha accept Bhakti Sāraṅga Prabhu’s divine guṇas [attributes] and are absolutely faithful to him.
Everybody—be it a regular reader of ‘Gauḍīya’ periodical or a supporter of those tridaṇḍi preachers—knows about the kind of capability of Śrī Bhakti Sāraṅga Prabhu in Sanskrit, English & Bengali; so many people throughout both Ārya-avartta & Dākṣiṇātya—which means from those great Himālayas up to the oceans—are aware of his vagmitā [eloquence].
Those fortunate residents of Gauḍa-deśa [Bengal] have, more or less, witnessed his absolutely pure character, the absolutely spotless bhāva of his heart, his aikāntikatā [exclusive bhāva] for Kṛṣṇa, and his unending love for Śrī Gaurasundara.
From the pre-dawn hours till the late night, his absolute enthusiastic mood is only for the absolute Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava society; through his unparalleled spirit of dedication unto Kṛṣṇa and Kāṛṣṇas (Kṛṣṇa Devotees), he is justifying his name ‘Atula’ [‘unparalleled’].
He has wiped away the root cause of those stains of the moon, and in place of those stains [kalaṅka], he is absolutely enriched in the ekāyana-channel of Kṛṣṇa-Prema-Kalaṅkinī [Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī]. For this reason, even the stains attributed to the moon that distributes soothing moonlight have found the true success of his (the moon god) own quality in Atula ‘Candra’, who is completely dedicated to Gauracandra.
He is the upādhyāya [preceptor] of those vandya [revered] Vaiṣṇavas. He is the only saviour of ṛṣi-nīti [idealism of the great ṛṣis]. His heartly endeavours are the enlivening energy of Śrī Caitanya Maṭha’s Parā-Vidyāpiṭha [School of Absolute Education]. He is Gosvāmī-kula-dhurandhara [the stalwart personality in the lineage of those Gosvāmīs], and he himself is an aprākṛta [genuine] Gosvāmī. Because he is Bhakti-sāra [who is capable of taking the essence of bhakti] and Parama-pāradarśī [most efficient], those pure devotees have heard the nirghoṣa [powerful declaration] of the divine name Bhakti Sāraṅga as the designation expressing his divine svarūpa. The pure Vaiṣṇava society is mesmerized upon watching the beauty of the divine lotus feet of this pāramārthika-pravara [most prominent amongst those pāramārthika personalities].
He is a foremost secretary of the Śrī Viśva Vaiṣṇava Rāja Sabhā. He is one of the two editors of Śrī Gauḍīya Maṭha’s Śrīmad Bhāgavatam. He is the foremost amongst those ideal personalities of the pure Vaiṣṇava community and is always in line of those Śrī Rūpānuga Vaiṣṇavas, therefore he is worshipable to the whole world.
